Back: “All tea comes from the same plant, Camellia sinensis, originally grown in India and China. Different processing methods produce the different types of non-herbal tea - from white and green to oolong and lapsang sushong. The tea plant contains a high level of a group of chemicals called flavonoids. Flavonoids protect the tea plant from stresses such as too much light. They also contribute to tea’s tasty flavour and health benefits. A large study in the USA showed that people who drank at least four cups of tea per day had a 16% lower risk of developing type II diabetes compared to non-tea drinkers. Better put the kettle on!
